Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them – HARTMANN-BOWDEN

We all have made mistakes as we start out doing Genealogy. Sometimes we continue these mistakes for years. Students will learn about organizing files, the importance of a naming convention for files, the importance of a complete source, using a research log and how to work on your family lines. Learning how to avoid these mistakes will help keep you on track for doing your family research. Some tips will be shared to make your own research more assessable for future generations.

Mary Hartmann-Bowden first became interested in Family History when she joined the Church in 1977. A mission and life prevented keeping up with the new interest until 2010 after attending a Family History Expo. In September of 2021 she became a volunteer at the Mesa Temple Visitor’s Center. And shortly thereafter she began to teach classes. Mary also serves as a Temple and Family History Consultant in her local church unit for the past year. Countries of research interest are England and Germany. Going to Genealogy conferences, online classes, and being a member of the local Family History organization has taught Mary many things and she is excited to share what she has leaned with others.
