Fill in the Dash – How to Write Short Life Sketches – HARTMANN-BOWDEN
The dash between your birth and death dates is your life. Are you preserving the life sketches that make that dash come alive? In this class you will learn some techniques to write short sketches of your life stories or your family stories. Different styles will be used including a form poem. Come to class with a notebook to write your class sample. Bring your FamilySearch login and password so you can add it to Memories. You will also be instructed in how to add your sketches to Memories.
Mary Hartmann-Bowden first became interested in Family History when she joined the Church in 1977. A mission and life prevented keeping up with the new interest until 2010 after attending a Family History Expo. In September of 2021 she became a volunteer at the Mesa Temple Visitor’s Center. And shortly thereafter she began to teach classes. Mary also serves as a Temple and Family History Consultant in her local church unit for the past year. Countries of research interest are England and Germany. Going to Genealogy conferences, online classes, and being a member of the local Family History organization has taught Mary many things and she is excited to share what she has leaned with others.
