Records created by the death of an ancestor can provide valuable information to family historians.  Probate records are court documents created while settling a decedent’s estate and have been recorded in America since the first permanent settlement.  Learn the genealogical value these records contain and some basics for researching them.

Keith is a fifth generation Oregonian while Darlene is a native of Indiana.  Both are graduates of Brigham Young University.  Keith is a former member of the board of directors of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon and past chair of the Italian Special Interest Group of that organization.  Both serve as family history consultants.  They enjoy researching together and speaking for local and regional genealogical organizations.
