This series is designed to help any level of genealogist learn proper research skills. The emphasis will be on the beginner, but the concepts apply to all. Each participant will choose a research project within certain parameters to keep things simple. Class participants will practice the concepts taught on their chosen project. Because each person is unique and each project is unique, options will be provided so participants can decide what works best for them. Classes will be held twice a month to give participants time to apply class concepts to their projects.

Tentative topics:

  • Defining a Research Objective and Options for Organizing and Recording Research
  • Records Survey and Tips and Tricks for Quick Recording of Research
  • Source Citations Simplified
  • Easy-Research Tips and Tricks to Streamline Efforts
  • Document Analysis and Correlation of Records
  • Locality Guides
  • Methodologies and Research Planning
  • Possibly: Writing it up; Transcription, Abstraction, Extraction; etc.
