Many parts of Western society have roots in the Jewish tradition, such as the concept of a democratic ideal, the sacredness of time as exhibited in celebration of the Sabbath, the “Golden Rule,” as put forth by the great Jewish sage, Hillel. The Jewish People (B’nai Yisrael) represent an amalgamation of cultures with complex nuance, and yet their origins are shared with a remarkable history and a narrative that has reverberated across centuries.
